Having trouble with expanding storage

I have an 8bay storage which I recently upgraded from a 6bay storage. The raid isnt set up as a pool, it is just a stand alone raid5.
I previously had trouble expanding the storage when I went for 5 disks to 6, where after the migration completed, the raid did not expand. I found an explanation online which helped me fix this problem but manually kicking the expansion into gear.
I have now expanded for 6 disks to 8, and have the same problem, but the previous technique has not worked to bring the raid to full capacity. The raid group is showing as the correct size, but the Single static volume raid is not. Any help would be appreciated

I guess you are referring to this topic

At what stage are you having issues? (Also strange you had to do these manual steps now twice in a row)

That is the explanation that helped me previously. to be clear, that process I used was about 1 year ago (when I went from 5 disks to 6)

So the process I used was add the 2 new disks in the webui, using Action/Resize Volume/Add new disks to existing Raid Group. The process migrated for about 36 hours, then showed expanding but was stuck at 0% for about 4 hours. So I restarted the Nas hoping the process would kick into gear.

Normally that whole process should all work via GUI, if this happend twice in a row, somthing is very wrong.

Best to open a ticket with QNAP

Thanks, yeah I have had a ticket open for a few days, I’m guessing I missed the weekend hours. Currently making a second backup incase I need to start fresh

Typically, after you add a new hard drive, you need to perform an expansion. You can also refer to this FAQ: How do I expand the Storage Pool/Static Volume by replacing disks with higher-capacity drives in QTS 4.4.3 or later? | QNAP
