HBS 3 sync failure: Bad port number or service is unavailable -111

I’m adding a pointer here because this same issue happened to me again tonight, 3/30/2025. I see from my original post that I first encountered this error on 9/8/2023, 18 months ago. Frustrating to me, all I did was run the exact same job again, no configuration changes at all, and this time it finished successfully. Other recent sync jobs between these two devices have also finished successfully.

So, I have no idea why these random failures occur.

Probably a network issue. Might try Hybred backup center Beta. It tells under “Dashboard” if the connection to another NAS goes down in the last 24 hours.

Thanks for the idea. I read a bit about Hybrid Backup Center. Doesn’t seem to offer any benefit to my use case. I have two QNAP NASs in my home, and I use HBS 3 to sync the main NAS to the backup NAS. From what I read of HBC, it’s main purpose is to “Centrally manage 1-to-N or N-to-1 backup/sync jobs of Hybrid Backup Sync.” I only have a 1-to-1 sync, and I’m already using HBS 3. So, in my use case, HBC just seems to add another layer without really adding any functionality that is useful to me. From what you describe, the main benefit would be that “It tells under “Dashboard” if the connection to another NAS goes down in the last 24 hours” I can get that info directly from HBS 3 itself.

Unless I missed something HBS only tells you if the connection is up or down, not that it went down hours ago when the job was supposed to run.
