HDD Compatibility Risks

Sometimes I see that QNAP puts note on a HDD like “As suggested by certain hard disk drive providers, the hard disk drives of the same brand and series are collectively recognized as compatible with QNAP products if the same family drive has passed the compatibility test” is this official for any HDD in the same family, because sometimes we would like to purchase HDDs that meets our budget?

Make sure it’s NAS rated disks and it should work just fine

Well there are the following drives from Seagate enterprise EXOS X24 series with the following models:
ST24000NM000H
ST24000NM000C
which I believe they are predecessor for this model which is listed in QNAP HDD Compatibility ST24000NM002H
I always look for refurbished disks, and older models always come refurbished.
