We see a large number of requests on the forum here for people who are suddenly locked out of their NAS for one reason or another. Their password no longer works. This post is to provide a guide for this so people are not as stuck.
If your password has been defaulted for whatever reason (3 second reset, a glitch, etc) here is what you need to know courtesy of QNAP:
1.) The default password can vary depending on your NAS model and firmware version. Please see this app note for information on what your NAS is using:
2.) New NAS units use the cloud key as the default password. This is typically printed on a sticker attached to the NAS. But if that is not there or the NAS is not accessible, you can use the Qfinder app to get the cloud key. But that doesn’t always work either as you may have to log into the NAS to get the cloud key and you can’t log in right now. So what do you do. Here’s another guide courtesy of QNAP:
If you can’t get your cloud key from one of the methods listed in this article (example: you have not connected to MyQNAPCloud), then please post here on the forum and someone will be able to help you.
