As described here Backing up system settings | QTS 5.2.x system configuration backup should be done only when any change was done. In the meantime my NAS makes the backup every single day. Why?

Where do you see you should only do manual backups if changes were done ?
The system does auto backups to give support (or knowledgeable users) a way to restore good configs after they were corrupted
Hi @dolbyman , I meant automatic backups.
The article I’m referring to says in chapter 2 “Configure an automatic backup schedule”:
My system does. That’s the problem.
Have you compared the backups to ensure no settings were changed?
If-not, suggest running a diff on them to find which parts have changed.
The most interesting is that I was off for 3 days, so didn’t touch my NAS during this time. And now, from all these days I see different backups. There are slight differences in size, but cannot find what. Those are binary files.
Anyone has an idea how to compare the backup .bin files to see the different values?
I use a utility called Beyond Compare, but there is no shortage of free file comparison utilities found via a google search.
