As mentioned in [BIOS] HS 251+ where can I download the latest BIOS I’m trying to fix my USB 3 ports on the HS 251+. They suddenly stopped working. I can see the the USB 3 controller in linux when running lsusb but when I plug in any device (mouse, keybaord USB Drive) no new device is shown when running lsusb I know the ports worked but then suddenly stopped responding. I tried turning the NAS off, leaving it off for a while, reseting the BIOS, even disabling the USB 3 and reflashing the BIOS so that I could completely rulle out any BIOS configuration issues.
When I do plug the USB drive in the lights turn on so power seems to be working but data is not. I tried different cables, different USB Drives / sticks and nothing seems to work. I also booted a live CD since for example when I disabled USB 3 in the BIOS the USB did not work at post but once the computer booted in the OS the USB worked again so I even tried that but no change.
Any additional ideas would be greatly appreciated.
All of them. The 2 black USB 2.0 ports work fine. The other 2 blue USB 3.0 ports only power up the device but no device is detected at any stage, not in BIOS not in the OS when it’s booted up.
Since the BIOS re-flash worked and my USB devices on USB2 are now recognized and also the USB3 hub is visible in the OS my guess is that the issue is hardware related and since the device is out of warranty I’m not sure if it’s worth the hassle? I’d need to send this device to Germany from Slovenia and I’m not sure how much would that cost and also if it would arrive in one piece. I think I’ll just boot it using the USB2 ports - since Unraid runs from memory or upgrade the internal DOM to a larger USB device using something like this: [HowTo] Replace broken DOM module with a simple USB stick - QNAP NAS Community Forum
