I periodically get the error Failed to complete Sync job: " Backup". Failed to locate all source files. Check if source files were moved during backup. Attempting to retry. Error code: 47., 84,1733137637,A200,Hybrid

Model:TS-879 Pro

Current firmware version:4.3.6.2805

HBS3
One way sync job to second NAS same model, same firmware.
Why does this error occur?

Failed to complete Sync job: “Backup”. Failed to locate all source files. Check if source files were moved during backup. Attempting to retry. Error code: 47., 84,1733137637,A200,Hybrid

You can try to download the debug logs from HBS3, but as your NAS is long EOL, any bugs would not be fixed anymore by QNAP (even if you report them)

Yeah I understand re: EOL.
I have checked the logs and nothing to see there.
It doesn’t happen everyday. But I thought maybe someone here had seen/been through this.

are these the system log files or HBS log files?

HBS does have its own:, mine are located here:

/share/ZFS530_DATA/.qpkg/HybridBackup/logs
/share/ZFS530_DATA/.qpkg/HybridBackup/CloudConnector3/data/system/backup

yours maybe elsewhere wherever HBS is installed.

the latter path has multiple folders with logs and csv error logs too.

Thank you Toxic.
I downloaded the debug report from HBS3.
The file looks like this. HBS-diagnosis-report-2024-12-04T20_45_20
I also got the Help Desk diagnostic logs from Helpdesk.
This file looks like this. Q12CI05999
The HBS log was my goto.
There is a system folder with subfolders of the job names.
In the affected job there is a file called job_history.json
But all the entries have an error count of 0.
It’s hard to work out the day from that log but I read all entries.
Each set of entries looks like the below.
Maybe there is another log that will show me but been through most and can’t find anything.

that log tells me nothing. I’m just thinking out load, and just curious to one of your setting in HBS backup job that fail. in the rules section the last setting is “Do not take a snapshot”

is this ticked or not?

if it is unticked, HBS will take a snapshot of the source folder/files to be backed up and then uses this snapshot/data for the backup. if however the snapshot failed then you may get the error message “Failed to locate all source files.” as the snapshot doesn’t exist. (maybe…)

do you have enough space to take a snapshot of the source files before they are backed up?

failing this you are at the mercy of QNAP support finding out why this failed. unfortunately HBS doesnt give that much infor on why the backup failed.

Thanks again Toxic.

I was hoping you could tell me which log file to look at in the HBS-diagnosis-report-2024-12-04T20_45_20 file. I have gone through most and not found sufficient information.

The Snapshot box is ticked so no snapshots.
The Sync folder is 1TB and the NAS has 9 TB free.

Any other thoughts?

nope, sorry. I would guess QNAP need to diagnose your issue, just in case its a bug. Raise a Ticket with them if you haven’t already

Have you checked if the folder names/location still same?

Is there a valid connection between both NAS?

If you create another sync just as test will it work?
