Hello, i have added some files to my nas but when i try to `view them on the tv, its actually showing the episode title and not the actual order of files… like Ep1… Ep2 etc… ive tried using MKVtools to fix the problem but nothing i have done is working… can someone please assist…
using the Samsung tv media player, or if i connect through my firestick i use VLC and it just displays the episode title and not the episode list ie… ep 1 ep2 ep 3 etc etc
You should be able to set that in Media Streaming addon > Browsing settings and also setting a default custom menu style.
That said, many media files, particularly torrented files, generally have a title encoded in the file by the torrent etc. creator, and the files may get displayed on the player by that title - or part of it - instead of the file name. If you want to guarantee displaying the title using the file name, you’ll have to edit the file with a hex editor such as HxD.
Thanks for the details. How titles and episode order are shown depends a lot on the player app on your TV or Fire Stick.
For a better experience with TV series, we’d recommend trying Plex Media Server on your NAS together with the Plex app on your Samsung TV or Fire Stick. Plex organizes series by season and episode. Here’s our guide to get started: How to set up Plex Media Server to play movie files stored on my NAS?
