Initial setup - First QNAP after defecting from Synology

Recently purchased the TS-873A-SW5T 8 Bay NAS and installed 5 Ironwolf 8TB drives from my Synology 1515+ that has failed.

Initially, everything seemed to go smoothly with the setup; I upgraded the firmware upon startup. Once that was complete, I accessed the GUI. The unit then prompted me for another firmware upgrade, so I initiated it, but after a reset, it was still running the old version and put me on the Smart Setup again. I am now on the latest firmware, and I could access the GUI. I started creating a Storage Pool with RAID 5 using my drives, allocating 10% for reserve, aiming for around 26 TB of storage.
Since then, the GUI has logged me out, and I cannot log back in; it says my credentials are incorrect or that the account is invalid. I performed the 3-second reset, and the status light has been flashing red and green for the last 30 minutes.

I can see the NAS through Qfinder, but I cannot log in from there, and I am no longer able to access the device via browser.

I am uncertain about what is happening and would appreciate some advice.

EDIT: if I try and log in from Qfinder I get an error with “Login failed. There was no response from the server.”

Are you running QTS or QuTS? (As you mentioned overprovisioning, I guess QuTS?)

Were all disks clear before you inserted them (No old data or partitions on them)

Was running QTS (this is what it shows in Qfinder) - I’ve hardly changed anything apart from what I specified.

The disks were straight from my failed Synology unit, so I couldn’t do anything with them, so I plugged them in for QNAP to sort them out as required.

EDIT:

Status is now solid green, drives are flashing green.

Probably best to take the disks out and clear them in a USB caddy, so you have a blank slate

Don’t have that, but still purchase one.
