Hello everyone, I would like to install a free chat on my NAS as well as the ability to schedule work shifts for some of my users. Is this possible?
I have a TS-231 with firmware version 4.3.6.2805
No idea what a ‘free chat’ is, please elaborate.
There is plenty of online time sheet services you can use, your NAS is not capable of containers or VM’s (so forget that plan)

What exactly gets ‘refused’ it’s just a php web app you would throw on your web server folder.
Make sure you only use this internally though. Remember your web server runs with root permissions, so if anyone hacks your web server(via vulnerable website code), they have free reign to encrypt and/or steal all the data on your NAS!
There’s other chat apps as well that are available from repositories like MyQNAP.org. Also, you could run something in a container as well.
The TS-431 is 11+ years old and does not support containers (see my first reply)

A competing NAS manufacturer has a native Chat app. It would be nice to see such an app in the QNAP App Center 
Well… even if so, not for a long EOL NAS
With a current NAS, a container would be no problem. (Not every obscure thing needs to be natively supported, also a security nightmare)
