as a long term user of Unifi Network Controller from MyQNAP store, they can not support the new Unifi OS Server application.
I was wondering if QNAP Store will include this program?

Why not just install it as a container? (if your unknown NAS supports that)
Agree, I was just researching how easy that will be on my TS-264. Thankyou
however that is the older Unifi Network Controller image, and there is a new Unifi OS Server and I cannot find a QNAP docker image of the Unifi OS Server
see https://help.ui.com/hc/en-us/articles/34210126298775-Self-Hosting-UniFi
If there is no current container image, you can always run a Linux VM on your NAS (also supported on your model)
So wait - I just re-read your note.
Why is the MyQNAP.org repo not going to support the new UniFi app?
Qoolbox just said “if it is a full OS, it will not be possible, maybe with a virtualisation station if it is provided as an ISO. think it will be end for this QPKG : it needs packet manager apt … seems to be running under a podman virtualization service.“sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get install podman slirp4netns.”
This here seems to be the current container
Latest version is from late October 2025. I manage one Ubiquity network with a CloudKey hardware appliance and that firmware is also on December 2025 as of now. (so that should be current)
that version works, however is being phased out.. read https://help.ui.com/hc/en-us/articles/34210126298775-Self-Hosting-UniFi
I don’t know how the Unfi app would be a full OS. That doesn’t make sense. It’s always been a web server app that runs on multiple platforms. It wouldn’t make sense that Ubiquiti would start requiring a dedicated machine to run someone’s WiFi network.
It sounds more to me that Qoolbox just doesn’t want to do the work…
I just downloaded the new UniFi server. It’s not a full OS. It’s an app. Not sure why it couldn’t be made into a QNAP app. But it would probably work well in a container as well.
Honestly, the current app works just fine. I’ve got 4 Access Points in my house and don’t need all the professional networking stuff that the software offers now (the fact I have to use MFA just to access my wireless devices is annoying for one). So I’m not sure if it’s worth the headache to upgrade.
YMMV and you may need a more capable infrastructure. Running it in a Linux container or VM should work fine…
