When backing up from home to the cloud, if the upload volume is too high, you may receive a warning from your ISP.
It’s something like, “If you don’t reduce your upload volume, we’ll forcibly limit your speed to 100Kbps!”
Until now, I’ve been limiting the upload volume so it doesn’t exceed 10GB/day like this, and it seems to work well.
When the ISP checks upload volume, it seems that uploading a large amount for three consecutive days is not allowed (the criteria may differ depending on the ISP), so if you create days where you can upload at full speed only twice a week, you won’t attract attention from the ISP and can quickly complete data backups to cloud storage.
The setup is simple:
If you apply bandwidth limits on all days except Monday and Friday like this, you won’t end up uploading large amounts of data for three consecutive days.
…Or so I thought, but no matter how many times I set it, it always stays enabled, so it seems like there might be a bug.
I’m sure QNAP will see this post and fix it, so I’d like to try again once it’s been corrected.
