m.2 ssd compatibility cache acceleration for QNAP TS-664

Hi, I have purchased a QNAP TS-664 and with it purchased two Silicon Power 512GB A55 M.2 SSD SATA III Internal Solid State Drive SP512GBSS3A55M28

I did check the compatibility list however there are very few listed there in the 512GB/480GB/500GB size bracket and after hunting couldn’t find ones as cheap and well reviewed as the Silicon Power A55’s. I decided to risk it.

Unfortunately they don’t show up in the QNAP. I’ve put the QNAP onto the latest firmware. I’m hoping that there might be something I can do to help the QNAP see these two M.2 drives. Otherwise if they definitely aren’t compatible can anyone provide me with a link or a model that would be compatible in the lower end eg 512GB or similar size?

Appreciate your time for reading this far.

Thankyou

Mistake No.1: buying SATA m2 for your NVMe m2 slots (not compatible)

Mistake No. 2: Using cache for QTS (broken …so don’t use it)

OK interesting. My bad re the choice of m2 drives but that’s ok they were really cheap and I can use them in other things but cache acceleration is broken? I didn’t know that. Thanks for your response.

It’s not the MOST obvious from the compat list, they don’t have a column for M.2 type.
But if you had price checked anything on the list you could have noticed none are SATA.

Now that you know they must be NVME drives I bet the “Interface” column makes it really obvious to you.
