My new TS-664 is working OK with the drives migrated from a dead TS-651 and (seemingly) the firmware synchronization error is sorted (that is, no more error messages) The device will be mainly used for managing a lot of image and media files and as a local Plex server (no transcoding). I now need some extra storage and with all six drive bays occupied I’m planning on adding 2 M2 SSDs each of 1 or 2TB. The choice of brand and spec is confusing, especially when it comes to heatsinks so I’d be grateful for any advice from NAS SSD users. Thanks in advance,
I have a set of Crucial T500 2TB drives in my TS-873A and a Kingston MV3 1TB set in my TVS-672XT.
Both work great.
As far as heatsinking, both have a plastic kinda label over the chips. One one of the T500s, I messed up and put the heatsink on the wrong chip. I don’t have any thermal issues. I’m not even sure how necessary the heatsink is.
