Migrating from a QTS NAS TO New QTS HERO Operating system (not only disk migration)

HELLO

I have a TVS-873e NAS in production.
I bought a new TVS-H874 nas to take place with qts hero. I know I cant migrate disks directly and this is not the idea here. The old disks WILL REMAIN on the old nas that will serve for a new purpose when and if the migration is finished)

I saw several people requestign help about this. The answer was always the same. You have to backup and restore your data. Nobody explains how can this be done.
The hybrid backup station can backup and restore shared files and folders… Thats is fine. But the NAs ecosystem is much more than shared files and folders.

there is a need to migrate also

USERS of the NAS with its Shared folders and applications pemissions (also profile data like emails / password)

  • aplicatiions running with its configurations like
    • qmagie with tons of albuns configured. People tags configured, smart albuns. AI objects / people / places already detected and its database.
Video / music station configuration / playlists etc.
Container station that is runing configured containers (some of them very tricky to get running)
Qsync/Qsync Central station configured and running as a colab tool
      QVPN config
      Qfirewall config
      Notification center

Virtualization station

I was seduced by the new features and secuirty enhancements of QTS hero but I now start to think that I bought a nightmare and big problem instead of an upgrade.
Please don´t suggest me to use qts on the new nas LOL.

Backup and restore of the configs from the QTS nas to hero NAS doesn´t work. The new nas just say it cant read ANY CONFIG from the old NAS

Please someone tell me that there is a better way to migrate one nas to another other than recreate everhting manually. Of course its simply not possible to create everything maually even if I wanted to.
Other than copyint files from one nas to the other I don´t know how to do this.

qnap clearly state you cant migrate, simple may it sound it isnt not an option.

initialise the new nas with QuTS Hero. get used to its ecosystem. you can then migrate the data, over to the new NAS.

configs etc will need to be setup manually. just take your time.
