My VM:s freezes for seconds

Hi,

I have an old TVS-873 (QTS 5.2.5.3145) that have worked fine for ages now. I have some VMs running, right now it’s only one Debian machine and one windows server.
My debian VM freezes from time to time, probably ten times a day and the lock remains for like 30 seconds sometimes more.
If I have a SSH running on my LAN to that VM the SSH is frozen too.
The VM is answering to ping the whole time.
I cannot find anything obvious in that VM syslog that could explain this so I was starting to investigate the VM host instead.
One finding is that I have log entries like this one in multiple log files each second:

If these messages are normal and harmless I would love to have some input as to where to continue to search for the cause of the locks of the VM.

Not sure why there would be ZFS warnings on your QNAP (neither can the NAS model run QuTS, nor does QTS do ZFS)

Maybe a good idea to open a ticket

It is a error in VS 4.0.0.270/278.

With VS 4.0.0.280 the error is gone

Thank you Becker, I am running 4.0.0.278 so I guess it would make sense to upgrade to .280

I’ll do that and see if it goes away.

Nope, that did not work for me.
I tried to install the .280 version but it always failed with an error message stating there should be more info in the log. The log was empty though.

I was on .278 to start with.

My upgrade path:
I didn’t read all the entries in the other thread so I tried to install it manually “on top” of the .278. That failed and the .278 was restarted again.
I removed .278 and tried again, but it failed the same way again.
I reinstalled .278 and that worked; with the same log-errors as before.

Anything else i can try to get it upgraded?

When i see the problem (ZFS, ) with VS 4.0.0.278 i downgrad to VS 4.0.0.256

For the downgrad i deinstall the VS 4.0.0.278
Then i install the VS 4.0.0.256 manual.

VS 4.0.0.256

With the VS 4.0.0.256 the problem (zfs, …) is gone.

Same Days later i install manual the VS 4.0.0.280 without a problem.

As dolbyman pointed out, seeing ZFS errors in QTS is quite unusual.

I think QNAP found the problem with VS 4.0.0.278.
With VS 4.0.0.280 the “zfs-problem” is gone.
