NAS can't update firmware - automatically or manually.

I have a TS-231P.

I have had it for 5 years now, and am trying to run Plex server for streaming my music on it. I can’t get that to work, but more importantly I can’t update the firmware on it.

When I try updating through the portal interface, it comes back with an error 102. This is if I do the auto firmware update or the manual method. I have tried restarting the NAS prior, and still no luck.

How can I resolve this?

Error 102 means an expired cert

It would be very useful to have the details of what the current firmware version is, and what firmware version you are trying to put on.

I would create a support call.

I am currently running 5.0.0.1932 and the upgrade is to 5.0.1.2376.

In the interface, I click update, and then it shows me the release notes for the firmware update. I Click ok and then it begins to download the firmware, and once it starts installing it just gives the error message saying the digital signature has expired.

It happens every time, even when I try the manual update.

And your NAS time/date is correct ?

Yes, I set it as soon as I logged into the interface the frost time, and just now checked it.

In these cases here a manual update has done the trick

Make sure you update to 5.2.8.3359
