NetBak to remote NAS

I’m having trouble getting NetBak on a remote PC to find my NAS, a TS-264

  • I’ve installed and configured Hyper Data Protector on my NAS
  • I’ve installed the NetBak PC Agent on a local Windows PC
  • I’ve installed the NetBak PC Agent on a remote Windows PC, in a different city

:white_check_mark: I’ve successfully configured and backed up the local PC

:x: I can’t get the remote PC to find my NAS using either the myQNAPcloud DDNS hostname or the WAN IP address of my NAS

I’ve configured Hyper Data Protector and Network & Virtual Switch stings to both use Adapter 2

I’ve used the myQNAPcloud app on the NAS to enable UPnP Port Forwarding on my UPNP enabled router. The ports I’ve enabled are

  • 80
  • 8080
  • 443
  • 9103
  • 9106

I’ve even manually added the ports on my router to the IP address of Adapter 2

Notes: When I use an external device (remote PC or mobile phone on 5G) to browse to [myNAS].myqnapcloud.com or the WAN IP address nothing happens. If I browse to myQNAPcloud I get to the myQNAPcaloud login screen.

What, if anything, am I doing wrong?

Please never ever ever expose any part of you NAS via port forwards.

Create site2site VPN between two routers if you need to reach a far NAS for data transfers

Sure, sure… I’ve set up QBelt on the NAS, downloaded the client to my remote PC and automatically configured the client using my QNAP account but, that isn’t working either.
*yes, I added my username as a VPN user

I have never used QBelt, I was talking about site2site managed by routers.

You have tons of critical and dangerous ports forwarded to your NAS, that have been used for ransomware infection many many times.
