Network looping issue - QSW-M2116P-2T2S

I was using the QSW-M2116P-2T2S for my home 10GbE network. I got a network looping prompt when I connected everything. I tried turning the loop protection off, but the network still crashed and just wasn’t working normally. I thought it might be a bad unit, so I got a replacement, but the problem still occurred. I couldn’t fix it, so I swapped it for a QSW-M408-4C, which works normally, so I just left it as is and used a separate 1GbE switch for other lower-speed ports and PoE. Now I’m hitting the bottleneck on the number of ports again and need to consider getting the QSW-M2116P-2T2S again. So I need to look for possible solutions to use it again, although I’ve already sold it.

Below is the network layout, and hopefully, somebody knows what’s going on and how to fix it. Thank you so much.

My house has 3 storeys. I used the QSW-M2116P-2T2S (1st switch) as the first switch after the firewall router, which is on the 2nd floor. Then one 10GbE port connects to the 1st floor switch, which is a QSW-M408-4C (2nd switch). I use several QSW-M408-4C switches at different locations in my house, which I’ll mention later. Since my computer desk is in a different room, I need another QSW-M408-4C (3rd switch) connected from the 2nd switch. Another TV room on the ground floor is equipped with a 4th switch, also connected from the 2nd switch.

There is also a standard gigabit switch connected from the 2nd switch for my son’s gaming setup in the living room.

You did not include an attachment.

If you are getting a looping prompt, then your network has a loop in it which is no good. Turning off that protection is not going to help things either. You have to find the loop and eliminate it. Probably a dual 10 Gbit and 1 Gbit connection between switches.

Please post your diagram and I will try to help.

@RRHR Hello, thank you for your reply.

The information provided so far is still limited, so we are unable to determine whether a loop has actually occurred or if it might be a false alarm.

If your current network topology is simply a tree structure, theoretically, loops should not occur. To assist you more accurately, could you please clarify what you mean by “network crashed”? For example, is the device showing a red light, are the lights flashing continuously, or are there no lights at all?

Providing more information would help us make a useful assessment. Thank you.
