Network via USB for TS-451D

I want to create a ntopng docker container for network monitoring. As this requires a dedicated network interface and my PCIe slot is already occupied I am looking for a network “card” connected via USB. Any recommendations from anyone?
Thanks in advance!

Using the Virtual Switch built into the NAS, you don’t need another NIC. You can put the container into Bridge Mode, select the NIC and give it its own IP address. I have two Docker Containers running right now that have their own IPs on my LAN.

Thanks for swift reply! I missed some details: My goal is to monitor all internet traffic through a mirrored port in my managed switch. For connection to this mirrored port I would need the additonal NIC. I also have already some linux/pihole containers running with own IP address which works absoltuelty fine.

The TS-451 has two ethernet ports (I know as I have one). Are you using both ethernet ports on the NAS?

I don’t know if there are any drivers for USB dongles that QNAP supports.

I have seen success on reddit for some generic USB NICs with RTL8125 chipset… In case you want to give it a shot (no guarantee that they would work or survive future firmware updates)
