New feature request

I hope I am posting in the right section.

Using QVR Elite 2.7.1.1231

Would like to have a new feature in the event rules. That is whenever there is motion detected, also take a snapshot.

This will make so much easier to look for that motion detected through the recordings.

Thank you,
Alex

That’s possible with QVRpro

I just installed QVR Pro 2.6.1.1029

The option is not available. Unless I don’t know where to go to set it up.

Just to be clear I am not talking about auto snapshots which is a different thing.

Would like a snapshot taken whenever motion is detected.

I do that with my cameras. Any time motion is detected in certain defined areas they email a 4k picture to a specific email. I use thunderbird email to automatically delete the emails after 5 days so as not to overfill the inbox.

I understand that, but it is so much simpler (and no internet involved) to save a snap on your QNAP NAS whenever motion is detected. The snap would have the camera name and time stamped on it and you would quickly know what/where video to look for.

The photos have the camera and time stamp. I have 6 cameras doing this and each has its own email (camera1@… camera2@… etc.) I get around 150 emails a day and I never need to get rid of old ones. Just sayin’, if you really need this feature you can have it.

No offense, but I think you miss my point.
I don’t want emails involved, nor internet…
Just a way for QVR to save a local snap whenever there is motion detected.

QNAP promised to be active in this forum (compared to the old one), but if you want to make sure your voice is heard, open a ticket.

You set up a rule, trigger and event. Detecting Events in QVR Pro | QNAP
I ended up with 1000s of JPEG’s after I set it up so after a couple of years I deleted the event.

Yes, the currently way to get the snapshot is set the action to send the email and attach the snapshot.

I have discussed with the team that we should can add a new action to obtain the snapshot so that the snapshot can be stored directly on the NAS.

@Alex2 Does this new action have the function you want?

Yes. That’s exactly what I would want.

Thank you,
Alex

@Alex2 Thank you for confirming.

I will let you know if there is any new version release with this feature.

Thank you QNAP team. I really appreciate it.

Cheers,
Alex

Maybe include a retention period setting when upgrading the app too.

I think that will go without saying. It should have the retention period as well.
