New Plex Media Server update 1.41.8

Hi,

has anyone updated to the latest version already from 1.30.0?

I’m a bit anxious if everything will work out :]

What’s strange is that the update appeared a couple of days ago (was even notified via Security Center) but now the update within the App Center is not actively promoted. Yet, when I click on Plex and check the changelog, it’s still listed there:

But alas, I just realized, there’s no way to upgrade/download in fact … strange

I am on 1.42.2 right now … works fine (btw, ALWAYS use the official qpkg from Plex as QNAP is waaaay behind with their AppStore versions) … or use a Container (even better)

Hi,

Yeah I realized this, but…

How to I upgrade the QNAP App Center version to the official one, without loosing any (meta)data?

Also, on the download page I’m not sure which I should pick:

I’ve a TS-853A and IDK which one would be the correct one

thx

Your version is Intel/AMD 64bit

If you are unsure if that jump is too high, do a backup of your Plex folder via SSH (or WinSCP) in your system volume (hidden .qpkg folder)

Oh… thanks! Feeling like an idiot now.

Thanks, I can follow this and also was able to locate PlexMediaServer.

But I don’t understand this: I’ve the QNAP version. Supposed I uninstall it to make room for the new version: is the .qpkg/PlexMediaServer kept? And will the installation of the official package now about this or how does it continue using the existing config & database?

Sorry if this sounds stupid and thx

I think you can install over the QNAP version with the Plex version (it’s the same app, QNAP just very seldom updates it)

You can just install the downloaded version. It will preserve all the settings as it is just an upgrade of the app in the qnap app store.

Thanks all, I did the upgrade and all is working!

Indeed I also confirmed with Qnap faq.....read me first! - Tips, Tricks & How-Tos - Plex Forum , it would be a bad idea to uninstall the current version, so I didn’t touch this.

After the new version I noticed the linux load spikes to 8 or 9 on my 4core and the system was basically unable to do anything. I left it alone overnight and now it’s all fine.

Again, thanks!
