Hi All
I’ve recently bought a Samsung QE85QN90D and it refuses to show the videos in a selected order such as - recently watched, date modified, date imported etc. it always listed everything in alphabetical order.
I’m pretty sure it’s not an issue with my TS-251+ as the other TV’s still display them correctly as selected.
Does anyone know if this is how all modern TV’s are, as the shop I bought it from - say that modern software isn’t as user friendly or comprehensive as it used to be.
I’m running the latest firmware version: 5.2.5 build 20250526 and use everything over WiFi ATM with the NAS double linked to the router.
Switch to a modern streaming solution like jellyfin/emby/Plex and install the corresponding server (NAS) and Player (TV) and you can do all sorts of sorting, naming, tagging, etc
Or get a cheapo streaming stick with android and throw KODI on it, then index the desired NAS folder via SMB, also possible.
Yeah apologies, DNLA across my TVs using their native software.
I’m a VERY basic user of the NAS, mostly for back up of devices, so I don’t know anything about the third party apps you’ve mentioned - but now have something to research in my spare time.
The issue explained is about what is running on your NAS, not really your TV.
The embedded multimedia server in QNAP is very basic and practically useless. Start your research with the items listed above. Very small learning curve and you will have a much better solution.
Based on our internal tests, most TVs currently don’t support sorting functionality when streaming media. This is largely because DLNA, which is considered a legacy protocol, does not support sorting. Its capabilities are likely limited to its current state.
For a better experience, we recommend exploring alternative solutions like Smart TV + Plex, TV + Apple TV + Plex …etc.
