NEW TS-264 doesn´t see the disks

Hello, I bought a new TS-264 and two new WD 4TB disks with the model number WD4005FFBX.

Firmware 5.2.4.3079 I have installed both disks in the NAS. The disks are compatible. Also both green LED light are shining.

When I start the smart installation the following error message apears: Drive Missing

Install and format at least one drive before using the NAS. You can install a drive in a drive bay without powering off the NAS. For details on drive compatibility, see https://www.qnap.com/compatibility/

What do I have to do? Pls HELP

Could be a DOA NAS, try the disks in another machine, if they work OK there, contact your point of sale of the NAS

what is a DOA NAS?

Dead On Arrival

A device that was purchased new but is defective

no - that´s not the case - I bougth two of them and both have the same issue :-1:

I had no idea (info not given)

So did you buy 4 disks (2 for each NAS) and all have the same issue ?

Not sure how 4 disks and two NAS would have the same issue.. and all disks and NAS are brand new never used, you said ?

Try the drives in something else, like a PC.

:upside_down_face:

Yes, but I’d hope the OP didn’t just try the drives in their other NAS.

oh .. fair

I bought two NAS and 4 disks - but 2 disks are still on the road. But I don´t think both disks are the issue because both LEDs are shining stable green.

It would be a unrealistic scenario if both are shipped with an issue…

I had shipments where 2 out of 6 disks were broken upon unpacking, it’s not impossible that both drives could be busted, so if you have a USB dock or anything to test, make sure the drives are good.

LEDs on the NAS have little to-do with the state of the HDD.

don´t have one - only notebooks…

As dolbyman mentioned, I suspect this issue might be due to a problem with the hard drive or the NAS itself during manufacturing or shipping.
