Notification Center adds lots of ??? to Mail-Message in the reference-field

Since the last update notification center adds lots of ??? to the message reference. It looks like:

Re: - Shutting down NAS???

No changes made by me, only suddenly lots of ???.

I noticed this too.

Same on the German forum (same poster)

And on reddit (until now, had no idea what this was about)

Reddit-Post was not me…

On the german forum someone experienced a similar behaviour, only he has lots of €€€€ symbols in the mail. Seems to occur on different models. He went back to an earlier version of notification center and the problem was gone.

Has there been a fix for this problem? It’s still happening for me.

Given that it has just been five days - no. And no one from QNAP has posted here either.

I am running the latest 5.2.8 version of QuTS Hero and don’t see this. And I have quite a few Notification Center emails sent to me over the course of a day.

Hello,

QNAP has removed the version 1.10.0.3291 from the downloadserver.

There is now the version 1.9.2.3163

(Only for Intel-NAS)

https://download.qnap.com/QPKG/NotificationCenter_1.9.2.3163_20250822_x86_64.zip

For other NAS

Download Center | QNAP

That is the fix from QNAP.

When I try to install this, it says that it is incompatible.

I downloaded and unzipped the file. Logged into the NAS. Went to AppCenter. Selected to install. Went to my download folder and selected the file.

@qnapChris what is your NAS model please?

TS-231P. I went to the QNAP site and downloaded the file that is for my model. (The one the other user supplied must have been for a slightly different model.) I have successfully installed the new version. Thanks all. Hope it has fixed the notification issue.

It seems that QNAP has withdrawn version 1.10 which had the behaviour and went back to an earlier version. If you have a look at the releases on QNAPs APP-Center website you’ll see that 1.10 is listed, but if you want to download the app, you’ll get version 1.9.

If you have problems installing the earlier version (1.9) in QTS try downloading the app from APP-Center and install manually. Worked for me on two QNAPs.

If you run version 1.9 of Notification-Center, then there is no problem. The problem started with version 1.10. which seem to be withrawn by QNAP.

Yes, based on our current understanding, this version may indeed cause the issue OP described. We are working to ensure that the same problem will not occur in the next release.

Users who have not yet updated their Notification Center will not be affected. If you have already updated and are experiencing issues, we recommend contacting our support team for further assistance or manually downgrading to the previous version.

We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience caused and appreciate your understanding and patience.
