I have a TS-464 with 2 NVME’s (1TB). In setting the storage pool there is an option for over provisioning with a suggested 5% already entered. Is overprovisioning necessary and if so, what percentage would be recommended. They are 1 TB NVME and I plan to just run the system and apps from them.
Overprovisioning helps with the endurance of drives, that have not a lot of TBW. Up to you, but keep an eye on the lifetime remaining values for the SSDs then.
5% is the original default and our official recommendation.
You can choose to disable the SSD Over-provisioning option, but please note that performance might decrease when your SSD starts getting full. Thanks!
