Recently, when editing photos with QuMagie, I noticed that every time I process a photo (such as adding a tag or rotating it), an _original file appears in the folder.
Yes, this is currently the normal behavior of Multimedia Console. On the [Settings] page, there is an option related to backing up original photos. Once enabled, a _original file will be generated when editing photos in QuMagie. The purpose is to prevent QuMagie from corrupting the original file during photo editing.
Even when files are written normally, a _original file is still generated, which can be quite annoying. Therefore, we plan to improve this mechanism in future versions of Multimedia Console. The current [Backup Original File] feature will be separated into a new [Smart Backup File] option, allowing Multimedia Console to determine if the file was written correctly and then remove the _original file to free up space. This way, the original file is backed up to prevent corruption, but excessive space is not occupied.
