Hi,
My QSW switch : QSW-M5216-1T.
I tried download the “Diagnostic Logs”, and it saved as a zip file.
I’m unable to find the password of the zip.
Tried the initial password(MAC addr.) and current admin password but fail to open the zip.
Please give some advice to me. Thanks.

That Logs Zip file is actually meant for our Support Team to unzip and analyze when you report an issue—it’s not designed for users to extract directly.
We’re curious: Are you running into any issues? How can we assist you right now? Thanks!
What’s the harm in allowing the user to see the data before they upload it to QNAP?
I never blindly provide diagnostic logs to an OEM without examining them myself and removing information they don’t need.
What are QNAP hiding in these logs?
Based on my understanding, that compressed file is specifically to help us analyze user’s device issues (it’s essentially a treasure map for our team).
We prefer to keep the original format and content intact to ensure we don’t miss any critical clues. Hope that clarifies things!
QTS and QuTS logs are zipped but not encrypted and are also meant for support.
Maybe diagnostic logs for these switches contain traces of 3rd party licenes or companies that actually do the OS? (OEM?)
Steve, I understand but this doesn’t explain why the diagnostics logs are password-protected.
- Do the logs include packet captures?
- Why must this be hidden from the user? Again, I ask: what is the harm in letting the user examine the logs?
- How can businesses ensure sensitive company information isn’t being leaked to QNAP through these logs? If QNAP won’t reveal what’s in them, how can businesses be expected to trust QNAP?
Exactly. I always examine QTS logs before providing them to QNAP.
I wonder if someone from QNAP can confirm this?
