Power configuration issue

OS accessing: Windows 11
NAS Model: TS 853 Pro
Firmware: Version: 5.2.10.3577 Build 20260731
Network Setup: Single port

This is regarding the NAS power configuration.

My QNAP NAS is normally kept shut down and is only switched on when needed for backup purposes. I want the NAS to power on only when I manually press the power button. Supplying AC power to the NAS should not cause it to power on automatically.

I have encountered the following issues:

1) EuP Mode
When I enable EuP mode, I notice that after a few shutdowns, the setting somehow becomes disabled by itself. Once this happens, the NAS will automatically power on whenever AC power is supplied.
2) Power Recovery setting
Since EuP mode keeps disabling itself, I tried setting Power Recovery to “Keep the NAS turned off.” However, after I shut down the NAS, the setting changes by itself to “Restore the previous NAS power state.” As a result, the NAS automatically powers on whenever AC power is supplied.

I encountered the same issue a few years ago, but I cannot remember how it was resolved. Previously, the final setting was that I was able to keep “Keep the NAS turned off” selected while EuP mode remained disabled.

The problem recently came back after I tried enabling EuP mode again. EuP subsequently disabled itself, and the Power Recovery setting started reverting to “Restore the previous NAS power state.”

Has anyone experienced the same issue and managed to resolve it?

Thank you.

Check if your CMOS battery needs replacement

I checked the date and time after power down more than 30 min or even days later, it still tracked the correct date/time. I tried to change other settings, and it seems to remain the same except the Power Configuration settings.

The date/time will be synced at bootup, so you will not know based on that

Take out the battery and check with a multimeter or just swap
