power consumption calculation like TS-435XEU-4G

Hello together,

I have read the specs and iam not sure regarding the power consumption of a TS-435XEU-4G.
Spec: Power Consumption: Disk Standby Mode → 17.367 W
Spec: Power Consumption: Operating mode, typical → 30.878 W

The power consumption is caculated with or without representive HDDs / or is just the system itself? I have found other specs of other qnaps, there is a clear statement like “testet with 4 HDD from WD Model xyz”.

Does I do it right?
Operating Mode 30.878 and 4x WD WD161KRYZ with each 6.5 W.
30.878 + 4x 6.5 = 56.878 W power consumption during / regular operation / maximal power consumption?

And I miss the voltampere (VA) value for calculation / rack calculation. I know the power supply has got 100 W, but that must not necessarily be the VA.

Thanks for advice

Hi and welcome to the forum.

I interpret the operating mode value to mean: with HDDs running. No-need to separately add the HDD power usage.

Hello OneCD,

thank you. I hope so too, but I need to know it

In case, there is a difference of 20 W each U at my Racks. 42 U = ~ 800 W.
And if I use WD 6W - 9W. Seagate 7W - 9W.

But I think you are right, the motherboard, CPU and so on: I hope it will not take 30 W itself.

I realy hope I can get a “better” technical spec.

operation mode in W
idle mode in W
Standby in W
Standby with wake on Lan W
VA
VA power supply itself
and so on

Its just for calculations and colocation costs. Thank you.

Power consumption operating mode includes drives, but different drives use different amounts of power. Using a figure of 65 watts is what I would do.
