Problems with 10GB network adapter

Hello,

I have a TVS872 with QTS 5.2.9.3410. The 10GB adapter (data) sporadically drops out—the QNAP disconnects at irregular intervals and sometimes becomes unreachable. After about 20 seconds, everything is back to normal. The following warning is shown in the log:

“Data interface disconnected”.

There is no virtual switch configured in the UI, nor am I sharing this adapter with other services like Docker or Virtualisation Station. I’ve been experiencing this error for years, and it only occurs sporadically with the 10G adapter.

The network cables have been swapped multiple times. The 10G port is connected to a Cisco CBS350-48P-4X using an FS.com module.

Does anyone have an idea how I can narrow down this issue? Is something wrong with the QNAP configuration, or what steps can I take next?

Moved German post to the German subforum, please pay attention to the language!

The network adapter in the TVS-872XT (please always specify the complete model name) is built-in, so if there’s a problem with it, please contact QNAP via a support ticket (or install a dedicated 10GbE adapter).

Hey @dolbyman,

yeah, sorry that I was going about it the wrong way!

Contacting QNAP via support ticket or even installing a new network card should really be the last steps, not the first… but oh well!

Either way, neither of those would have solved the problem for good! The issue was with the combination of the AQC107 chip in the QNAP and the Cisco router. The AQC107 chip in the QNAP doesn’t like 802.3 Energy Efficient Ethernet (EEE) on the 10G port. Another community board was able to solve it!

I thought cable and switch had already been ruled out.

…Network cable, yes, but we weren’t talking about the switch, were we?

Anyway, the issue is finally resolved—port flapping has stopped.

If the possibility of a faulty network cable has already been ruled out, we recommend opening a support ticket so our support team can assist you further. Thank you!

I saw you mentioned: “No matter, the topic is now finally resolved, port flapping has stopped.” — does that mean the issue is already resolved? Thank you!
