PSA new HDP app version 2.3.x breaks netbak 1.2.x

PSA - if you update HDP to version v2.3.0.414 - then netbak app 1.2x will no longer work.

Error 2025-11-26 09:15:00 — — localhost — HDP for PC/VM Inventory [HDP for PC/VM] Cannot create an inventory for the device (IP address: xxx). Please update HDP PC Agent on the device to version 1.3.0 or later.

app on website still showing older version1.2.6

Yes, totally broken. No update available and current version will not work.

Yes, exactly the same here. HDP updated and no longer works.
The PC app would need to be updated to 1.3.0, but this is not available.

Confirmed this morning that HDP updated and now all my systems are failing to connect and update. Whoops.

I agree, seems a bit odd that it was not picked up in testing as it is a simple “Computer says no” problem and, strangely, I have seen a screen shot on the QNAP website with version 1.3 on the How It works pages. Bit annoying meanwhile as a decent backup strategy is a large percentage of my NAS’s reason for being. Graham

Surely, this is nothing short of disgraceful. One of the most important uses for any NAS is to backup data from workstations. QNAP’s backup agent is currently not functioning. This could seriously dent QNAP’s credibility if they don’t fix it fast.

We have confirmed this issue and have already taken down the problematic version. We will release a new version as soon as possible.

Not going to do the work of a ticket. Luckily, I backed up 6 of our 7 Windows pc’s the day before. I will wait for fix.

Thanks for the feedback. But I don’t think any of us feel like opening another ticket right now.

We want a fix in the form of an update. Opening another ticket means even more work. We already had enough work to do with this problem.

One more request to QNAP. Please check your updates more carefully when it comes to sensitive issues such as “backups.” Thank you.

I opened a ticket yesterday and have received no response. This is pretty egregious and totally avoidable.

support did respond to my ticket and gave me a direct link to 1.3 software. I just installed it and running a backup now. So far so good. hopefully they update the app on the website soon.

Post link? HDP runs on my TVS-h1688X, so same model should work for me too.

I am writing this post to alert the community that the latest version of Hyper Data Protector HDP ver 2.3 is failing to back up my Dell MS server 2019.
The error message on the NAS says HDP PC Agent ver 1.3.0 is required, however no such version is available from QNAP - the latest is 1.2.6
The result is that the HDP backups are no longer working.
All of this worked properly before the upgrade to latest HDP
I have contacted QNAP support several days ago however they have no fix and cannot help except to suggest roll back of HDP to earlier version which is not provided in the app and there is no way to obtain earlier versions.
I am hesitant to attempt a roll back in case of data loss / incompatibility.
