Qfile Pro Version 4.5.7 (2107) is installed on my MacBook Neo (which has mobile A18 silicon inside). Now the app says that there is new version 4.6 available. However App Store says that it is not compatible with my device. So what’s up?

Thanks for your report — and apologies for the confusion. Here’s what happened: during internal testing, a build was briefly published by mistake, which is how you were able to download it onto your MacBook. In practice, Qfile Pro isn’t intended to be available on Mac — regardless of version, you won’t find this product listed on the App Store for mac device.
That’s because Qfile Pro is fundamentally a mobile app, designed for simple tasks like uploading photos and videos from your phone to the NAS and browsing files on the go.
For Mac and Windows PCs, QNAP’s main desktop application is Qsync , which lets you synchronize data and back up selected folders. It’s likely a better fit for desktop use, so it may be worth a look:

It is obvious that if you own a NAS server, one of the primary use cases is backing up or synchronizing important data to your own storage system. However, this is not my main purpose especially when not at home.
I use Qfile Pro over the Internet primarily as a way to browse, search, and read the large collection of documents stored on my NAS server. These documents include PDF files, source code, software projects, technical manuals, user guides, and various reference materials.
My goal is not to transfer or synchronize all of this data to every device I use. Instead, I want to access the information directly on the NAS and download only the specific files that I need at a given moment.
Having already used QFile Pro extensively on my iPad and iPhone, I was delighted to discover—by chance—that the same app was available for my MacBook Neo running on Apple Silicon (A18 Pro). The transition was seamless, as the interface and functionality were immediately familiar. So far, the application has performed flawlessly and fully meets my needs.
So many iOS apps can now run on OS X as you have observed. However, IMO, I think that you may get a better experience using the QNAP web interface on your laptop. The QFile interface works fine on a phone or tablet. I think the web interface works far better on a laptop.

There’s more Mac choices than what you provided in the survey which was MacBook and iMac. There’s Mac Mini, Mac Pro, Mac Studio, etc.
If you really want to improve things for us Mac users, allow us to use Qsync with more than one Mac. Your Windows app allows this.
