QNA-UC10G1SF disconnects unexpectedly.

It is connected via USB4 and used on a Windows 11 PC. After startup, it connects without any issues for a while, but before I know it, the link lamp turns off and there is no network activity at all in Task Manager. I am cooling it with a fan from outside, and according to the thermal camera, the temperature is kept around 30°C.

It is connected to the switch with a 2m DAC cable.

In Device Manager, I tried turning off the power management setting for USB4 that allows the computer to turn off the device to save power, but it made no difference.

Is there some setting I should check? Or could this be an initial defect?

Since you mentioned that it works right after connecting, I’m personally wondering whether your PC’s USB4 port has sufficient power supply capability.

For example, if you have a self-powered (not bus-powered, but a type that connects an AC adapter to the USB hub) USB4-compatible USB hub on hand, how about checking whether the same phenomenon occurs when you connect through that hub?

There is no network activity at all in Task Manager.

Does this mean that the ethernet port is visible in Device Manager, but physically not operating? If it’s a driver issue, I feel like it wouldn’t work from the start…

Thank you for your reply. I don’t have a self-powered USB4 hub… The port on the back of my PC should theoretically be able to output 15W according to the specifications.

After adding a fan to improve cooling, it seemed to work fine for about two days, but then it disconnected again.

Afterward, I installed a small fan with a heatsink to enhance cooling, and since then it has been operating without any issues for several days, so I suspect that the temperature rise was probably the problem. I feel that a structure with a built-in cooling fan might be more reliable to use.
