I just watched a short of QNAP at the NAB show in LA and they’re showing off a Thunderbolt 5, anyone have details on everything QNAP has on display?
Even though the AIh1688ATX teases AI, I think the Xeon 6 AI processors are just too expensive, I wonder if they switch to ultra 5/7/9/ for NPU support.
come on, you can get a 96 core for less than 10k
It seems strange that the show started on Sunday and there is still no further information about this NAS as of today.
Also agreed with @dolbyman that a “regular” Arrow Lake CPU is a lot more likely both for cost and power consumption reasons.
With this gen of CPUs they finally have better efficency and that should help a lot.
I was right
This comes with a 20 core Intel ultra 7 with eight big cores and EDIT 12 little cores. There are two 10 gig ports in the back and two thunderbolt 4 ports built in so that they do not use any of the three open pcie slots. This Nas also supports thunderbolt 5 pcie cards and you can add two of them to have four ports if you want. Another notable upgrade is the 2.5-in bays now support U.2 and u.3. this allows for some very fast speeds from the SSD pool.
