QNAP model release event on 09/08/2025

I just saw on reddit that QNAP has plans to release new QNAP NAS models on the 8th of September

Not sure what fan club is invited, but it’s none that I am part of

Might be a China-only fan club. The signup questionnaire seems very China-centric.

So, these might also be China-only NAS models.

Yeah they had a couple of these in the past, you might be right … we shall see

Single RAM slot is a big F you. They picked a 8 core part with support for only one DIMM, instead of almost anything else that could have taken 2 RAM sticks

Very specifically made sure to leave room for a new TS-x64
I would miss the PCIE slot but I could do without.

Yeah no thank you on those.

It’s an 8 core CPU but it is just an i3.

And 16B max memory? WTF? You can get a single 32GB SO-DIMM and maybe even a 64 GB. You are advertising the boxes as Hero capable yet your own documentation says you need at LEAST 16 GB of memory for Hero to operate well with everything. So why the heck are you limiting the memory to 16 GB?

Terrible product release…

Depends on pricing and it is DDR5 at least. Not sure how it would compare to my 873a

DDR5 seems like a waste for just 16 GB. Wonder what bus width they are using.

The processor spec says the N355 supports DDR4, DDR5 and LPDDR5

Maybe it came down to what QNAP can source the easiest/cheapest ?

Yeah but they hosed themselves because they can’t sell their overpriced DRAM modules then…

It’s not supposed to be a beast. We have i7 and Ryzen devices for that.
I liked everything (assuming it’s cheap) up until single channel RAM, with a low max RAM limit.

I’m not sure why everyone things that the Ryzen is a super powerful processor. I have a Ryzen V1500B in my TS-873A and the i3 is rated higher in performance. So not every Ryzen is created equal.

Well you get ECC memory and really good perf per watt.
If we drag racing yeah you pick a i5/i7 box.
