Free Talk: How are you using your QNAP NAS?

Is this how you use a NAS?
Is it possible to use it like this?
I think there are times when you wonder about these things.

Heavy users, please share how you use it, and beginners, feel free to ask, “Can I use it like this?”—let’s have an open discussion!
We might create a separate topic in the future to summarize usage examples , so it’s totally fine if things aren’t organized here.

So, in my case, I personally use a QNAP NAS TS-264 at home, and here’s how I use it:

  • Storing photos/videos (the flow is smartphone → OneDrive → PC → NAS. I look at the photos synced to my PC and save the necessary ones to the NAS).
  • Backing up photos/videos (I back them up to pCloud).
  • Syncing files from the laptop I use (I sync them with Qsync).
  • Remote desktop for when I really need to access from outside (I installed Win11 with VirtualizationStation).

Especially with QuMagie, I have about 75,000 files, but it runs smoothly and it’s convenient to view them by shooting date.

Please let me know how you use it too!

We have summarized how to scan business cards with Ricoh’s ScanSnap, save them as JPG data on NAS, and utilize business card data by making it searchable with Qsirch.

Since the beginning of this year, I have been using the TS-216G to store photos, but QuMagie’s display is frustratingly slow, and even when I try to use the help feature, there aren’t any significant solutions (and it’s hard to find good help), so I am considering initializing the NAS itself and re-uploading the data.

“It was mentioned that, especially with QuMagie, there are about 75,000 files, but it operates smoothly and it’s convenient to view them by shooting date.”
I’m honestly envious of that.
