QNAP QDA-A2AR adaptor with an already existing RAID

Hello

The QNAP QDA-A2AR is an internal enclosure that allows you to put 2x2.5" disks in hardware RAID and insert it into a 3.5" NAS bay.

I will receive my QDA-A2AR RAID adapter in less than 48 hours.

However, I have a question: How can I get two disks already in RAID (created from my NAS) recognized and put in the enclosure without reformatting them ?

I would like to put them in the adapter, put the adapter in the NAS and have my RAID already set up so as not to lose anything on it.

  • Is it possible??

  • If so, how do I configure the switch on the QNAP QDA-A2AR

My equipment:

  • NAS TS673
  • 5 HDD 12 To Each + 2 SSD 1 To Each
  • QTS 5.2.8
  • QNAP QDA-A2AR

Thank you !

The hardware RAID will erase the drives

It’s the same with QNAP TR units, you cannot RAID NAS internal drives that were moved without full data loss on them.

Never knew such a device existed. That is slick!

Thanks for your replies. It’s not what I wanted to hear, but oh well, if that’s how it is, I’ll have to deal with it. :+1:
