QNAP Spare Parts Marketplace - why not?

Hello, guys!

The idea is not technical) I think it will be not so bad to create some online shop/market on these platform with new or used QNAP parts (from manufacturer and end users) to make it easy to repair or modify our clouds by myself.

I think, most of us have enough tech experience to do basic and moderate repairs - also due to great design, quality and repairability.

Personally I had a problem with small SATA board on my TS-253 Pro, which fail to see second drive in bay. I’m sure that I can replace in easily, so I do not need to engage a serviceman. But it still hard to find some particular part for reasonable price.

How do YOU think about?
Thank you for your opinion)

I think you have to put up a whole set of legal guidelines to put up a Marketplace.

Also a plain forum software is probably not enough to handle payments or to prevent fraud.

The German QNAP forum for instance, had to remove their marketplace for legal reasons.

How about a link to an item for sale on eBay ? Like my QNAP with 5 x 3TB HDD’s for example…

Have you considered that you might be hitting the clock signal drift issue? I’ve heard one of the early symptoms may be drives becoming unrecognized.

then it becomes a forum full of spam. I personally dont think there is enough interest in this.

There’s plenty of online forums with a Buy, Sell, Trade section open to registered users. There’s no need for payment processing or anything else other than a section to post and some guidelines.

Don’t see why this wouldn’t work here.

I think that a general buy and sell section would be a nice idea but then this is an international forum so I am not so sure how much traction / interest it would gain.

Just checked and the Dutch and Spanish forums still have buy and sell sections but it seems that they do not see that many offers:

@dolbyman The German legal system is infamous for harassing people in ways that every sane country in the world will find ridiculous so I am not surprised they shut down that buy and sell section in the German forum.

The English forum here is also visited by more than a local audience, Italian,Belgian or German forums have normally a very geographically concentrated user base.

The English section here is visited by all sorts of native and non native speaking countries … I still think that a marketplace has no …place here.
