Hello Everyone,
Has someone had a problem with recognizing qnap tr-002 (or similar) with mbo based on B550 chipset?
-
AMD Ryzen 9 5950X
-
ASUS ROG STRIX B550-F GAMING WIFI II
-
128 GB DDR4 (4 × 32 GB, 3600 MHz)
-
NVIDIA RTX 5070 Ti
I’m having a strange USB connectivity issue with my QNAP TR-002 DAS (not a NAS).
Troubleshooting steps I’ve already tried:
-
Multiple versions of AMD chipset drivers
-
Latest motherboard BIOS
-
Disabling USB power-saving features in Windows power plans
-
Changing numerous USB-related settings in the BIOS
-
Installing a new PCIe USB controller card: Tosuny USB 3.2 Gen 2 PCIe Expansion Card with ASMedia ASM3142 controller
-
Testing multiple high-quality USB cables. All of them work perfectly with the same QNAP TR-002 when connected to other computers.
Here’s where it gets interesting:
If I connect the QNAP through an externally powered USB 3.x hub (I’ve tried three different hubs), it is immediately detected, but only operates at USB 2.0 speeds.
The same thing happens if I connect it directly to the motherboard using a USB 2.0 cable: the device is detected and works normally, but obviously at USB 2.0 speeds.
Other USB storage devices work perfectly at their expected speeds, whether connected directly to the motherboard or through the new PCIe USB controller card.
Additional information:
I’ve probably connected and disconnected this device a thousand times while troubleshooting. Only twice has it been detected and worked completely normally when connected directly via USB 3.x. The next time I plugged it in, it stopped working again.
The TR-002 has four indicator LEDs: POWER, USB, HDD1, and HDD2. When everything works correctly, all four LEDs are lit.
When the problem occurs, all LEDs light up except for the USB LED. This happens immediately after connecting the device.
Does anyone have any idea what could be causing this? Is there any way to fix it?
Thanks in advance!
