QNAP TS-464 crashes regularly when under heavy load

Hi, been trying to figure out why my qnap keeps crashing. I have narrowed it down to heavy load from transcoding and media thumbnail/meta data analysis. This happens when Qsirch, QMagie and others are running all out.

I have a Plex server as well, and tested this with those QNAP apps off and Plex on and transcoding, and vice versa and the same thing happened. The Help Desk diagnostic logs show the system plugging along just fine and then suddenly it’s rebooting. The Plex logs (when it is running) show the same thing.

Happens every 12-15 minutes if the QSirch/Magie/ai suite is running.

Drives are fine, I checked. Replaced the RAM and the power supply. Nothing fixed it.

I have to assume something inside the motherboard or CPU or something else has gone bad.

Anyone have any suggestions before I replace it? Sucks that it is 3 years old, and that my older TS-453A keeps running like a champ (It’s now my backup server).

Anyone else have experience with this? Should I buy another QNAP?

Have you changed the RAM in the unit?

Assuming ti’s out of warranty. Have you run a full test of memory? This sounds to me like a memory fault, could be the memory controller on the mother board, but I’d check the DIMM’s first; that’s more likely. And the second most likely cause would be a failing PSU. Harder to check, but you are describing a situation where the system fails when under heavy load. That leads me to think it’s a memory or PSU issue.
