QSirch Premium License - what the heck?

So what the heck with Qsirch Premium licensing? I activated my premium license earlier this year (March 29th) and I received this:

I used QSirch yesterday and today and I get these emails that now say this:

So first my license was good until 2027. Now it’s only good until September 30th of this year?

What the heck? That’s not right.

And I had a second activation for my second NAS that was good until 2027 and now they did the same thing - changed the date on it. That’s not right. You don’t promise someone something when they get the license, then change it on them!

Never used Qsirch, but here it also says Sep 30th of this year

2 years seems like an awful long time for QNAP to give out free licenses for. Maybe they originally messed up and backpaddled?

It was a special deal while it was in beta. And hey if you give someone a license for a certain term then you should not later take it away regardless.

Anyone from QNAP care to reply?

Sorry for the delayed response! I took some time to confirm this issue and our future plans with our internal team.

First, I sincerely apologize for the problem you encountered. According to the product information page, this version was originally planned to be free until September 30, 2025. The issue you experienced was indeed a problem with our website’s license distribution, resulting in an incorrect date. The publicly announced validity period has always remained unchanged, and the mistakenly set expired date was identified during our system code review and immediately corrected.

However, with the next major Qsirch update, we are already planning to make the Qsirch Premium features available for free. So, you’ll be able to continue using these features for free by updating in the future.

I hope this addresses your concerns. If you have any further questions, please feel free to contact me, and I’ll help relay them to our internal team.

Once again, my apologies for this, and thank you for your understanding!

So does that mean there will no longer be a premium version of Qsirch? Or will the premium version contain other features?

Regarding information about our new product versions, please always refer to our official website announcements and documentation.
However, we truly value your experience and are committed to continuously improving our services. Please rest assured that the current features and entitlements for existing users will remain unaffected. Protecting user benefits is always a priority for us.

Thank you again for your support and feedback!

That’s pretty cool because Qsirch is actually amazing. It takes up quite a bit of CPU time initially but once your files are all indexed, it works amazingly well. Way better than other search engines like Spotlight in MacOS.

I’m getting the following notice now on my NAS regarding Qsirch:

It’s supposed to all being enabled so I am surprised I am still getting this message. Is there something we need to do to continue using the premium features?

Hi @NA9D since Qsirch 6.0.0 has been officially released, you can remove the license from the License Center and no longer receive notifications reminding that the license is about to expire.
