QSW-M1208C-8C managed switch blinking green status light (i.e. presumably does no complete boot)

Hello all. I have a QSW-M1208C-8C switch (which, I believe, had been updated to the latest firmware in recent months and was working fine on a 10.0.80.x subnet).

I had to make some physical network connection rearrangements in my network and so I powered off the switch and restarted it.

I am now seeing a blinking green system status light which does not stop (even after 1-2 hours).

(After reading the Qnap manual, this would suggest the unit is booting.)

When I connect my devices no lights are coming up related to the connection ports (presumably because the unit is stuck in booting).

Qnap finder pro does not find the switch and entering the switch IP address into a browser gives no result.

So I have tried to reset the unit – pressing the reset button for 5 seconds causes the blinking green light to speed up slightly and after keeping the rest button pressed for further 5 seconds a continuous green status light appears – but no device connection lights are lit (even when connecting the switch to a router that provides the 169.254.100.1 gateway).

Powering off and restarting the switch results in the same blinking green status light.

Please can somebody advise me how I can fix this? Thanks.

[the switch was purchased 23.11.25 via amazon UK]

Hi SteveKo,

I’ve just checked the RMA status and it looks like a repair has been successful which is great news. Do I need to do anything next?

Thanks
