QTier - changing raid groups configuration in storage pool

Hello,

I have TS-673A, 4 x 4TB SATA, 2 x 2TB SSD and 2 x 1TB NVMe running QTS 5.2.4.3079.

I had QTier storage pool on SATA Raid5 and NVMe on Raid1. I decided to replace NVMes with SSDs, so I staged Untrafast tier and removed NVMes. I installed SSDs and added them to storage pool as Raid1. Unfortunately I cannot see QTier is enabled. I tried to upgrade the pool to QTier, but got error " This pool consists of disks of different types and is not compatible with upgrade to QTier." I do not understand it, since it is supported configuration and was working with NVMes before.
I am not sure what I missed when adding SSDs.

Is there any way to turn QTier on on that storage pool?
Is there any way to remove SSD Raid1 from the pool and add it as ultrafast tier?

Thanks,

sebek

Did you have a 3 stage Qtier before ?

HDD>SATA SSD > NVMe SSD

No, I had 2 stage QTier.
NVMe SSD > SATA

Ok … and now you joined SATA SSD disks together with HDD … and you get the info that this is not supported as the base tier … well, that’s that

No. When I joined SSDs with HDDs it is impossible to either turn Qtier on or remove SSDs.

Thats what I said…the pool you created is not supported by QTier, you have to destroy your base pool (that is mixed HDD and SSD)

As I wrote eariler, the task was to swap M2s with SSDs in ultra-high speed tier configured in the storage pool that was configured with auto tiering feature. It looks it’s not possible without rebuilding whole storage pool from the scratch.
That’s disadvantage.
