I performed an automatic firmware update on the TS-264.
The version was successfully updated to “QTS 6.1 6.1.0.3640 Build 20261007 Public Beta,” but right after starting up, a message appeared: “Failed to resolve DNS server or host. Some applications may not function properly…” and I was unable to connect to the WAN.
I did not change the DNS settings or the firewall settings, and there were no issues in the configuration.
I manually updated by downloading “QTS 6.1.0.3656 (Public Beta) Build 20261023” from the download site, but the situation remained unchanged.
Since I don’t have detailed technical knowledge to investigate further, I manually reinstalled “QTS 5.2.11.3661 Build 20261023,” and the network started working normally (I was able to restore it to its original state).
I’m still in the process of setting up apps and have not fully confirmed operation, but I’m posting this as a memo.
I want to prioritize using the NAS over improving the situation. Fortunately, I was able to roll back to QTS 5.2. When rolling back to 5.2, I manually updated through the web management interface. Although a warning message appeared, I proceeded anyway and was able to complete the rollback. There might be issues that aren’t visible, but at the moment everything is working fine.
Thank you for your report. We apologize for any inconvenience caused. We are relieved to hear that you have reverted to QTS 5.2 and everything is currently working as expected.
To help determine the cause, may we confirm one thing?
At the time you updated to QTS 6.1 Public Beta, was Tailscale already installed on this NAS?
We are investigating whether this issue may be related to installed applications. There is no need to provide configuration files or any other data—just let us know if Tailscale was installed or not.
