When will QTS 6.0.0 be released

The QTS 5.2 series was released on 2024-04-29, and as of now, it’s been nearly two years without a major version update. It’s also two major versions behind QuTS, specifically 5.3 and 6.0.0.

In the past, QTS often released major updates in sync with or even earlier than QuTS. Why has QTS stopped syncing versions with QuTS starting from 5.2? Are there major changes being prepared? For example, a UI overhaul or a redesign of the visual style (I feel that QTS 5.2 has an indescribable sense of being outdated compared to Synology DSM 7). Or is it that the new features in QuTS 5.3 and 6.0.0 are considered useless for QTS, so new versions simply aren’t being pushed?

I really hope QTS 6.0.0 will feature a UI overhaul. I hope QNAP Staff can share some information about QTS 6.0.0 and the future direction of QTS :sob:

I am also very curious. The beta for Quts is around, but there is nothing about qts for the folks that would rather not use zfs.

The kernel could really benefit from a refresh, and so does the docker engine.

As far as I know, the next major version of QTS is currently in development and is expected to be released this year. Stay tuned!
