Is it possible to add a mark in Qumag that a given Folder is shared with other NAS users? Public sharing is visible in the sidebar tab, but there’s no mark on the shared album or folder… maybe a watermark or other visible mark on such a folder? With multiple folders, it’s impossible to see which ones are shared and which aren’t. This is a very helpful option, especially when sharing via a web browser, because the app doesn’t allow sharing at all.
Secondly… would it be possible to share a Folder with Subfolders as an album, and within it, subfolders? This would prevent creating albums from these subfolders as a single Album, which creates a mess for the person sharing it with. It’s a lot of work to access the subfolders and share them individually… Why can’t you share a Folder with a subfolder to keep it?
For example, the VACATION folder -
the 2003 Vacation subfolder
the 2005 Vacation subfolder
the 2012 Vacation subfolder, etc.
as a Shared Album with subfolders

This looks like two separate issues, and we will look into the feasibility of both internally.
For the missing indicator, one direction we are exploring is adding a visible icon on shared albums so they can be told apart from ones that are not shared.
For the subfolder structure, another direction we are exploring is supporting a folder sharing link inside QuMagie, so a shared folder could keep its original subfolder structure for whoever it is shared with.
On the sub-album idea specifically, we would like to explain why this is not a straightforward change. An album in QuMagie, like in most photo management systems, is designed as a flat collection of photo references rather than a container with its own internal hierarchy. This lets a single album pull photos from multiple folders, and lets features like face grouping or smart/rule-based albums work without also having to account for nested parent-child relationships, recursive permission inheritance, and hierarchy-aware sync logic. This is also why sub-albums are not a pattern used by major photo platforms such as Apple Photos, Google Photos, or Adobe Lightroom. Folder-level structure is instead handled as a separate concept from the album itself, which is closer to the direction we are looking into for the folder sharing option above.
I’m very glad that such options are being considered.
For me, even the Album option could be eliminated in favor of sharing a folder with its subfolders. In the Photos tab, everything is displayed together, but when you go to Folders, everything is already done, just like archiving.
Of course, backing up from a phone is a different matter, but we’re not taking that into account.
As for face detection, at least for me, I don’t need it either. A better option would be to search for objects. For example, typing “bike” finds photos without a bike, or a vacuum cleaner, a workbench, rocks… photos without a bicycle, for example It searches very incorrectly.
But for now, I’m eagerly awaiting the addition of the two options I mentioned.
In the first option, there’s a small watermark, and maybe if you hover your mouse over it, a bubble will appear with information about who the folder is shared with without clicking?
If sharing Folders and subfolders were actually a simpler option, that would be great… maybe Shared Albums would be a better option for sharing outside the server if we want to show something to someone outside of our home Qnap server?
