QuTS 6.0.1 and Tailscale and ZeroTier

Hi -

well - I installed QuTS 6.0.1, and to my dismay, ZeroTier is no longer able to run, and ZeroTier

wants you to run it in a docker (and I can’t find instructions for this). So I reinstalled Tailscale, which works fine, but QNAP has v1.4.0 in the App Center, and Tailscale is up to v1.98 ! I think it’s kind of important that QNAP updates the App Center to have a modern version of Tailscale running. Now, you can say “well - you can run QuWAN” - but you are not transfering a lot of data

between 2 QNAP systems running QuWAN for free. QuWAN super node is $15 per month to transfer 1 TB of data. And $24 a month for 2 TB of data. For people backing up their QNAP’s to remote QNAP sites, well - a lot of customers won’t be happy with this - so I will stick with Tailscale for now.

Just me complaining ! And hoping that QNAP updates the Tailscale version to a modern version.

Thanks for the detailed feedback, Bob — and no need to apologize for “complaining,” this is exactly the kind of input that’s useful to us.

Updating the Tailscale version in the App Center is on our roadmap and actively being worked on.

Appreciate you taking the time to lay out the use case so clearly — it helps.

I ran my Tailscale in a dedicated VM with 512MiB RAM because I would like to run it as a subnet router and don’t want to mess up the QNAP firewall and sysctl.
