[Security Updates]

  • Applied multiple security updates to further enhance system security.

[Enhancement]
Domain Security

  • Simplified the setup process for Azure Single Sign-on (SSO) and updated the feature name to “Microsoft Entra ID Single Sign-on (SSO)”.
    High Availability Manager
  • Improved initial synchronization speed during HA cluster creation.

[Fixed Issues]

  • Resolved a rare issue where under certain conditions, the “Auto unlock on startup” setting for encrypted shared folders was incorrectly changed to “Unlock with encryption key on NAS” after folder creation, even though it was initially set to “Unlock with encryption key on KMIP server”.
  • Fixed an issue where the “Remote” snapshot list view for a source shared folder would get stuck on loading after its destination snapshot vault was deleted.
  • The Create Storage Pool wizard now automatically selects a suitable RAID type based on the number of available disks of the selected disk type. You can still select another RAID type if needed.
  • Fixed an issue where, after an HA failover, data transfers to an NFSv3-mounted shared folder could become inconsistent.
  • Enhanced HDD standby mode reliability.
  • Improved system stability when creating an HA cluster where the active node contains a large number of existing snapshots.

Is 5.3.x just 5.2.x+HA stuff?

Is 5.3.x going to be QuTS LTS?

Does 5.2.x have a earlier EoL and will TS-x64 devices get 5.3.x?

I think no.

We ALREADY finished production/feature enhancement phase?
They barely got 5.2 stable 2 releases ago. What the heck.

Hero 5.3 is a fairly significant update for what I call a dot released. I would not update to it unless you have to as several things change:

  • New look to several of the apps
  • Snapshots are removed from “Storage and Snapshots” and are their own app.
  • The look of Storage Manager is substantially different from Storage and Snapshots.

  • The look of control panel is somewhat different.

Personally, I don’t like the new look.

The big thing h5.3 gives is the ability to have another NAS as a failover for high reliability.
