[Initial Impressions and Observations of QuTS hero h6.0 Beta]
Recently upgraded to QuTS hero h6.0 Beta in the test environment. Below are the current feedback and observations, provided for partners interested in participating in the testing.
1. User Experience
-
Overall system response speed is more stable than h5.x, with noticeably reduced lag when operating the Web UI
-
ZFS-related services (Snapshot / Replication) running in the background have less impact on frontend operations
-
Reboot and service startup sequences are more consistent, with no issues encountered during the initialization stage
2. New Features and Behavioral Observations
-
Storage pool and dataset management processes are clearer, reducing the risk of misoperation by beginners
-
iSCSI / NFS settings can be retained and function normally after upgrading, with no loss of configuration
-
Snapshot scheduling can still be triggered on time under high IO scenarios (based on test machine)
3. Practical Deployment Recommendations
-
Direct upgrade on production hosts is not recommended; more suitable for:
-
Test machines / backup machines
-
Development or validation environments
-
-
Before upgrading, be sure to:
-
Fully back up configuration files and critical data
-
Confirm compatibility of third-party apps (such as backup and monitoring tools)
-
4. Bugs and Abnormal Behavior
-
Occasionally, after logging into the Web UI, the page needs to be refreshed to display the complete status
-
Some warning messages in the system event log are somewhat vague (without clear impact explanation)
-
It is recommended to enhance the “post-upgrade difference notification” or change summary description in the future
Summary
Currently, QuTS hero h6.0 Beta has shown noticeable improvements in stability and user experience. If future updates can further enhance log explanations and UI details, it will be even more suitable for medium to large-scale deployment scenarios. Looking forward to the complete performance of the official release.
